Australian Visa for the Commonwealth Games 2018

The 2018 Commonwealth Games, officially known as the XXI Commonwealth Games, will be held on the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia.

More than 6600 athletes and officials from 70 Commonwealth nations and territories will take part in 11-days-long competition from 4 to 15 April 2018.

All participants including their families and friends need to have a legal right to enter Australia and hold a valid visa.

 

Temporary Activity Visa

If you are an amateur participating in a prequalifying event, such as weightlifting or shooting, you may be eligible for a Visitor visa.

If you are a professional sports person you maybe eligible to apply under the Invited for cultural/social event pathway of the Temporary Activity visa (subclass 408).

 

Visa application charge

In honour of the Comonwealth Games, the Australian Government has set the visa application fee at $0 for visa applicants registered for accreditation by the Commonwealth Games Corporation and sent invitation required for 408 visa.

 

Visitor Visa

If you would like to watch the Games, or if you are a family member or a friend of a participant, and you would like to travel to Australia to provide support, you may be eligible for a Visitor visa.
